Project idea

  • Develop a tool to objectively measure the impact of workplace wellbeing initiatives. This involves tracking quantitative data like productivity and absenteeism, alongside qualitative feedback from employees on factors like stress and job satisfaction. By accurately measuring program effectiveness, organizations can make data-driven decisions to improve employee wellbeing and optimize their programs
  • Create a personalized digital platform specifically for remote workers. This platform would use data like work hours and self-reported mood to provide tailored recommendations, such as stretching exercises or mindfulness practices. Integrating with existing communication tools would allow for timely reminders and encourage healthy habits throughout the workday.
  • Design a program to deliver effective wellbeing support across large and diverse organisations. This could involve offering tiered programs tailored to different employee needs, providing training for managers to promote wellbeing within their teams, and using data to continuously monitor and adjust the program for optimal effectiveness.

Project challenges

  • One challenge was the client’s evolving scope, which we successfully navigated by adopting smaller iterations and incorporating early feedback for greater adaptability. This iterative approach ensured we remained aligned with the client’s vision while delivering incremental value throughout the project.
  • A key challenge was bridging the technological gap with the 60+ year-old board members, who were unfamiliar with the platform. To overcome this, we conducted various coaching sessions to build their understanding and confidence in using the technology effectively.
  • Initially, acceptance criteria were communicated verbally, requiring us to quickly adapt by diligently recording detailed notes to ensure accurate capture of all key requirements and avoid losing critical information. This proactive approach to documentation helped maintain clarity and alignment throughout the project.

Results

  • Early Delivery and Engineering Excellence: The app was delivered months ahead of schedule, showcasing the team’s exceptional skills and dedication.
  • Thriving Community and Communication Hub: Huntex successfully fostered a vibrant online community for Spanish hunters, providing them with essential communication tools to connect and interact.
  • Sustainable Platform for Community Growth: The platform empowers the hunter community organization to thrive by providing a robust and scalable solution for long-term engagement and growth.

Business challenges

The startup faced significant business challenges stemming from limited funding and a short deadline for launching their MVP. This required careful budget management and prioritization of essential features to deliver maximum value with minimal resources. Despite these constraints, the team successfully launched the MVP by adopting a lean and agile development approach, enabling them to quickly adapt to evolving needs and gather crucial user feedback for future iterations.
  • Limited Resources: The startup operated with a constrained budget and needed to deliver a functional MVP within a tight deadline. This required strategic prioritisation of features and efficient resource allocation to maximize impact with minimal investment.
  • Agile Development: To accelerate development and meet the deadline, a lean and agile approach was essential. This involved working in short sprints with frequent iterations and feedback loops, allowing for rapid adjustments and ensuring alignment with user needs despite time constraints.
  • Early Validation: Launching a basic MVP quickly was crucial for gathering user feedback and demonstrating value to potential investors. This early validation helped secure further support and guide future development based on real-world usage and market demand.

Development in detail

  • The initial phase focused on establishing a strong foundation by defining project scope, objectives, and success metrics. This involved close collaboration with stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring alignment from the outset. Thorough research and analysis of the target audience and competitive landscape provided valuable insights for shaping the platform’s core features and functionalities.
  • This phase involved translating research findings and user needs into a user-centered design. Wireframes and interactive prototypes were created to visualize the platform’s structure and user flows, allowing for early feedback and iterative improvements. A strong emphasis was placed on creating an intuitive and engaging user experience to maximize user adoption and satisfaction.
  • The development phase involved building the platform’s core functionalities and integrating various features, such as self-guided programs, daily check-ins, and real-time data dashboards. Agile methodologies were employed to ensure flexibility and responsiveness to evolving requirements. Rigorous testing was conducted throughout this phase to identify and address any bugs or usability issues.
  • The final phase focused on launching the MVP and gathering user feedback to guide ongoing development. Marketing and communication efforts were implemented to promote the platform and drive user adoption. Continuous monitoring of user data and feedback allowed for iterative improvements and the addition of new features to enhance platform functionality and user engagement.
